Learn to play jigs, reels, hornpipes, etc… as we explore the vast body of instrumental traditional Irish music arranged for the mandolin. We’ll learn phrasing, right and left hand techniques and even a little background to the music that, since “crossing the pond”, has become an integral and dynamic part of the American musical landscape. So tip your pint (not required!) and prepare to join the session! Learning “by ear” will be encouraged, but all of the material covered will be written out in both standard notation and TAB. Irish Tenor Banjo, Octave Mandolin and other fretted instruments tuned to G, D, A, E are welcome!
