Designed for intermediate players with little to no music theory knowledge, this session will break down the fundamentals of how music works in a way that’s practical and directly useful for clawhammer banjo players.
For clawhammer players, the foundational elements of music are often overlooked when learning by ear and through tablature. We will discuss real-world applications and how this knowledge can be used in everyday situations – learning tunes by ear or jamming with others – given the unique challenges of the clawhammer style. Make sure to bring your banjo because we will be utilizing what we learn to play during the workshop.
Tablature and accompanying materials will be available to take home.
