May Day, also known as International Workers Day, has deep connections to Chicago and music. To help celebrate the struggles and triumphs of workers, organizing, and unions, Chris Walz and Bucky Halker will take us through a myriad of songs and stories related to the history of the workers’ movement through the decades. Starting with the Chicago Haymarket Affair and the battle for the eight hour workday, CHRIS and BUCKY will weave a thread that goes through Pete Seeger, Studs Terkel, the Old Town School, folk and protest music, and the contemporary scene. Come join us and help sing the songs that tell the story of everyone who works.
