Join legendary Egyptian jazz drummer Yehya Khalil and friends for a participatory workshop on the fusion of jazz and Middle Eastern music. Attendees will learn about the history of jazz in Egypt and the Middle East from one of the early creators of this fusion genre. Participants will also learn rhythms, scales, and improvisation techniques from practitioners of both styles of music. Players of drums, percussion, guitars, strings, and Middle Eastern and African instruments will especially enjoy the workshop. Attendees are encouraged to bring their instruments.
