Breathe life into your melody playing with the addition of pickup and grace notes, rhythmic patterns and melodic fragments. These extra elements are encountered in instrumental music (fiddle tunes) and they transfer well to many song melodies. Using written and listening examples, Students will put three to four melody arrangements together in class, and the topic of varying an instrumental melody will be introduced. A working knowledge of first position major scales and an interest in fiddle tune and melody playing are the only prerequisites.
