Join Senegalese master percussionist and co-composer of the Black Panther score, Massamba Diop for this special offering exploring rhythms of the Senegambia region on West Africa. Massamba Diop is perhaps the world’s most renowned master of the “tama” or talking drum from Senegal. He started his career as the lead percussionist and founding member of Baaba Maal’s group “Daande Lenol” and has since performed and recorded with artists such as James Brown, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Harry Belafonte, and Angelique Kidjo. His crisp and complex tama compositions can be heard throughout the score of the blockbuster hit, Black Panther.
