Chicago Steppin’ is an improvisational form of partner dancing with its roots in such dance styles as the Chicago Bop, the Lindy Hop and Western Swing. This smooth and classy art form is primarily danced to old school, soul, jazz, and r&b music. It has swept the nation as a dance that exudes creativity and style.
Join Ken Watkins of the National Stepper’s Society to learn steppin’ fundamentals: basic footwork, turns and start offs. There’s no need for a partner, but bring ‘em if you got ‘em. Wear comfortable, casual clothing and smooth-soled shoes.
Ken is a Chicago Steppin’ pioneer and has been teaching with the National Stepper’s Society and the Chicago Park District for the last twenty years.
