School Partnerships
Sam Cantor is a guitar, ensemble, Wiggleworms and piano teacher in the Kids Music program at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Sam also teaches guitar, ukulele, choir and more in Chicago-area schools through OTSFM’s School Partnerships program. Sam’s approach to music education is strongly informed by the work of Zoltan Kodály: a holistic approach that emphasizes singing, movement and the use of high quality folk music in developmentally appropriate, sequential and joyful ways. Sam received his Level I Kodály certification from DePaul University 2018 and certification in Dr. John Feierabend’s First Steps in Music curriculum at Vandercook College of Music in 2019.
In addition to his teaching work, Sam performs around Chicago and beyond as a guitarist and vocalist in several bands, including his own songwriting project, Minor Moon.
