Wiggleworms
Ryan started his musical journey playing alto saxophone and percussion, initially studying at Merit School of Music and playing in community orchestras. During his freshman year at the University of Colorado at Boulder, however, Ryan was introduced to his dorm-mate’s acoustic guitar and never looked back. He began writing his own songs and jamming with friends. After moving back to Chicago in 2008, Ryan was fortunate to find a local open mic and a community of musicians that would serve as a source of continued musical motivation and inspiration.
In 2021, Ryan earned his doctorate in clinical psychology with a focus on children and adolescents. His experiences working as a therapist at various residential treatment centers and therapeutic day schools over the years contributed to a growing interest in composing children’s songs. Ryan has performed around the Chicagoland area under the name Ryan Uncle Ryan, and, more recently, Dr. Waffle. Ryan is thrilled to be a part of the Old Town School and Wiggleworms community!
