Adult ukulele classes: from complete beginner to intermediate, with a focus on learning by playing songs in a variety of genres. We cover all the of the essentials of playing – rhythm, meter, harmony and melody – in a warm and supportive environment. Students enjoy a rich interactive online learning experience, supported by access to downloadable recordings of every class and comprehensive written materials, including lots of leadsheets for a wide range of wonderful songs. In addition to general ukulele classes, Vanda offers classes
focusing on particular skills (such as fingerstyle playing) and specific repertoire (such as songs of the Tin Pan Alley era).
Private lessons (ukulele, classical piano, electric bass): complete beginner to intermediate. Lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student and the emphasis is on acquiring the necessary skills to allow folks to achieve their personal musical goals. Vanda’s own goal as an instructor is to help and inspire others to follow their musical bliss as part of the magical Old Town School community.
Vanda studied classical piano from the age of 7, followed by the cello, guitar, ukulele, and electric bass. She has played in a variety of musical ensembles, including orchestra, choir and a number of rock and pop bands. Currently, she plays bass as part of the rock trio, Merle Grey. She graduated from Columbia College, Chicago with a BA in Contemporary, Urban and Popular Music, having studied under Chuck Webb and Larry Kohut, and has been an active member of the Old Town School community since arriving in the US in 2014.
Recordings include playing bass on LeAnn Stutler’s debut album Keeps Getting Better.
