Guitar, Blues Band Live!
Jazz/Blues
Steve graduated from The University of Colorado in 1973 with a B.A. in philosophy. Having played guitar since he was 13, he made the practical decision to become a musician instead of a philosopher. He played in folk clubs in the Denver/Boulder area while studying for two years with Jazz guitarist, Dale Bruning. In 1976, he moved to Boston and attended Berklee College of Music while also commuting regularly to New York City to study with Jazz guitarist, Chuck Wayne. After playing Jazz gigs in the Boston/Rhode Island area, he moved to Chicago in 1979 and was hired by the Old Town School in 1980. In Chicago, he has played and “gigged” in all manner of bands, all manner of styles, in all manner of venues. He’s still goin’ strong. Currently at OTS, he teaches and administers “Blues Band, Live!” and offers the following specialty classes in rotation:: T. Bone Blues, The 3 Kings, Brothers Vaughan, Beginning Wes Montgomery, Sinatra on Guitar, Swingin’ The Blues Nationwide and others. In addition to guitar, he also plays and teaches the electric bass and has been known to sing for his supper.
