I believe that by learning music by ear, the student eventually acquires the skills to learn tunes and repertoire in any situation, on the spot. That is part of my goal when teaching an instrument. Students begin with repertoire that is geared toward learning technique and fundamentals. Intermediate students focus on building repertoire and interpreting music from recordings. Advanced students focus on advanced skills, tempo, repertoire and alternate tunings.
I have studied with many notable and influential musicians over the past 25 years including James Kelly, Blake Miller, Gina Forsythe, Jimmy Breaux, and Walter Mouton. I have a deep passion for playing, performing, studying, and teaching various traditional music styles on a variety of instruments.
