Since before her memory, Maddie has had an unrelenting passion for music. Born into a family of musicians, she started with Kindermusik classes in her hometown, Lincoln, Nebraska, and began taking private violin lessons when she was six. After being an avid participant in music all through school and a couple extra years convinced she wanted a career in Public Policy, she was drawn back to music as the center of her world and received her bachelors of Music Education and teaching certification from VanderCook College of Music in 2023. Throughout college, she frequently taught private lessons and was a collegiate teaching assistant with VanderCook’s One City Strings program, a non-profit organization offering free lessons, group classes, and instruments to students from local elementary schools and neighborhoods. Here Maddie received a foundation of Suzuki training, but her teaching methods are by no means confined to it; she believes in the importance of making music education accessible and aligned with students’ personal goals and interests. In addition to violin, Maddie plays guitar, piano, ukulele, trombone, and euphonium. When she’s not making music she’s busy crocheting, cooking, roller skating, or reading.
