Now in her 28th year at the Old Town School, Lisa serves as the program manager for the Kids Music Department. She started as a Wiggleworms instructor and has taught group and private lessons to children and adults. She is an accomplished singer, guitarist, and songwriter with a unique and versatile voice.
Among her many accomplishments as a singer and guitarist, Lisa’s notable work with her band Lush Budgett was praised by one reviewer as having “as much passion and authenticity as Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn. A winning combination of heart-melting vocals, engaging songwriting, and brilliant playing.” She also recorded, performed widely, and gained recognition and awards with her earlier bands, the Corn Kings and Eden Deluxe. From her childhood days singing in Michigan City, Indiana, to her career as a teacher and performer, Lisa has continually developed and shared her musical knowledge and talent. Lisa plays and sings a variety of country, folk, rock, and original tunes at gigs around the city.
Lisa has completed an M.F.A. in Vocal Pedagogy at Northeastern Illinois University, writing her thesis on the advantages of learning to sing in a group environment.
