Jackie is a bright and energetic people-person who focuses first and foremost on the goals and needs of each student. She has a great love of helping her people find their unique voice and their confidence as a singer and artist. She believes that (yes!), everyone can and should sing and focuses on nurturing a passion for singing and music in addition to teaching the technique of it. She will get to know you and create a fun and safe environment where you can be comfortable to explore the music inside of you and find your expression of it. In your lessons, you will develop and strengthen your breath support, vocal tone, intonation, range, dynamics, and phrasing. You can expect to be challenged, supported, inspired and motivated, and to laugh and maybe even dance a little.
Jackie’s grandpa (also a professional singer) handed her a microphone at age 3 and she hasn’t stopped singing since. She studied voice privately for 18 years and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire (Magna Cum Laude). She has sung with numerous choirs and vocal ensembles through the years, with performance experience in choral, classical, jazz, pop, rock, musical theatre and opera genres. She has had the great honor of appearing as a leading lady on stages in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Florida, singing for musical theatre and musical revues, as a soloist for churches, special occasions, ensembles, and jazz standards gigs in Chicago. Her latest gig features her singing Indie pop and rock. She has also music and stage directed for professional and educational theater productions as well as led adult and youth choirs in Wisconsin and Chicago. Jackie has been teaching private voice lessons since 1992. She loves all kinds of music and sound studies, plays several instruments, loves animals and nature, has 3 little boys, teaches yoga, is part mermaid, and had the privilege of running her own photography business for 13 years and counting.
Jackie also teaches beginning piano students.
