Instruments, Mandolin
My name is Colin Cosgrove, but most folks call me "CC". I teach mandolin here at the Old Town School of Folk Music. I got my musical–and existential–start in the north woods of Wisconsin where I learned the particulars of the bluegrass tradition from my father. I've been fortunate to explore many different musical traditions over the years, but always I take my grass with me wherever I go. By day you'll find me teaching music at Senn High School where I direct the Electroacoustic program. Come evening time you'll find me on stage with a bluegrass band, a jazz combo, or a garage rock outfit. My musical inspirations include the Stanley Brothers, Electric Wizard, The Grateful Dead, Ambrose Akinmusire, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Sierra Hull, and anything else that leaves room for collaboration & improvisation. Let's pick!
