Andrea Bunch is a Chicago-based musician, composer and educator. She is absolutely in love with teaching and building community at Old Town School, where she teaches Yoga, Guitar 1 - 4Ever, Pop Divas Ensemble, Women’s Acoustic Ensemble, The Decemberists Ensemble, ‘80s and ‘90s Ensembles, and The Here & Now Ensemble. She also teaches voice, piano, guitar, and songwriting.
Andrea has more than 15 years of experience helping her yoga students heal, grow strong, and maintain active lives. Her classes are joyful moving meditations in which you will sweat, breathe deeply, and learn more about your body and mind. Andrea is passionate about using education and communication as healing tools. Her students learn anatomy and kinesiology principles that they use to decrease pain, and improve balance and strength.
Andrea studied theater and vocal performance at the internationally acclaimed performing arts high school, Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. She continued her studies with Dr. William Trebold at The University of Southern CA and with Dr. Katherine Eberle at The University of Iowa. In 2000, Andrea graduated from Columbia College with a BA and emphasis in music composition and biology. Andrea also earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University. Andrea enjoys running her own business, Vital Body Yoga, in which she uses physical therapy principles and yogic techniques to help people strengthen and heal.
She performs solo and with multiple projects including Congress of Starlings and Little Queens. She has played at world famous venues like Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Halsted Market Days, Taste of Chicago, Pride Fest, Hard Rock Café, and The House of Blues. Andrea was awarded the prestigious Three Arts Excellence in Art grant to attend the Ragdale Artist’s retreat, and has composed music for films, including the award winning documentary, Brink of Survival. Andrea has also provided music for hundreds of events including weddings, celebrations, and corporate events.
