Chicago's own Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre returns to Old Town School of Folk Music with their innovative Inside/Out series - this time unpacking American Catracho. Inspired by Wilfredo's own personal journey, this signature work exploring immigration and the immigrant experience moves through themes of dislocation, assimilation, renewal, and hope.

Members of Cerqua Rivera's professional Dance Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra will perform segments of the work. Lead creator Wilfredo Rivera will discuss the expansive process that created it - three years long and involving nearly four dozen collaborators - and the themes and stories that shaped it. He'll also share how the work is made new each year by the company and within the environment around us.

Inside/Out is Cerqua Rivera's unique interactive event series that showcases invites you INSIDE the creative process for their multicultural, multidisciplinary art. You'll not only experience performance of their work in an intimate and informal setting, you'll also get a taste for this special company's collaborative process through improvisation and audience participation activities.
