Aynur, one of the most well known musicians of Turkish descent and a representative for the Kurdish people. Her music is based on traditional Kurdish folk songs, many of them at least 300 years old, with lyrics about the life and suffering of Kurdish people and Kurdish women especially.

Musically, Aynur's unique voice infuses traditional Kurdish folk music with the contemporary sensibility of Western music, reaching listeners across generations, connecting the young generation with the roots of Kurdish music, and combining treasures of the past with a musical language of today.
