The fabled Festival in the Desert from Timbuktu, now in exile from the Sahara, takes it on the road to bring its "caravan" to the Old Town School of Folk Music for a rare concert featuring the trance-groove of desert blues, an art form now banned in its homeland.
Original members of the Ali Farka Touré Band, whose late, great leader was the master of fusing traditional Malian music with New World blues, reunite with a mission to spread a message of peace featuring Afel Bocoum and Mamadou Kelly.
Terakaft, one of the original Tuareg bands to emerge from the Sahara, "combines Western high-tech with earthy African roots in perfect calibration" (Songlines).
