Kids Song of the Session
About Old Town School of Folk Music's Song of the Session
Join us in embracing Old Town School's Song of the Session, a unique and cherished aspect of our group music classes. This tradition not only connects our community but also celebrates cultural diversity through the universal language of music.
During each class session, we carefully select a song to be played and explored across all our kids' classes, family jams, and more. The Song of the Session transcends instruments, voices, ages, and musical styles, creating a harmonious blend of diverse expressions that resonate through the entire school. Let's all learn, share, and play together!
Kids Songs of the Session 1 - "Here Comes a Bluebird"
Students stand in a circle holding raised hands. One student stands outside the circle. As students sing, the student flies in and out of the circle (under the raised hands of the students). On "take a little partner," they choose a partner, and both students go in the middle of the circle and hop in place. The song begins again with both "birds" flying in and out until "Take a little partner," at which time both "birds" choose new "birds," who hop in the center of the circle.
