Pre-pointe is designed as a class to introduce students to more rigorous ballet study in preparation for advancement to pointe work. Students will continue with ballet exercises in demi-pointe designed to strengthen calf muscles, ankles, and arches of the feet. Exercises in this class will begin at the barre for safety and stability and graduate to the centre for more practice of their balance and increase in strength.
Students may advance to pre-pointe with instructor approval only. Students should be at least 10 years old and in Ballet 3-4 and above.
Two ballet technique classes are mandatory in order to add pre-pointe to the student’s schedule.
