Bluegrass Banjo 4: Earl Scruggs

Earl Scruggs was the father of Bluegrass Banjo and some of the best examples of his arrangements and original compositions can be found on the album “Foggy Mountain Banjo”. Using this album as a starting point, we will study advanced techniques in back-up and improvisation. To gain greater knowledge of the neck we will play songs in high and low positions and vamp on inversions. You will learn several tunes in G, Drop C, and open D tunings. Some of the tunes: Home Sweet Home, Lonesome Road Blues, Fireball Mail, John Henry, and others.
