We will explore strumming techniques, chords, and use of harmonics in open D tuning on the acoustic guitar. You will learn the standard chord shapes used in this tuning to create the unique blend of fretted strings and open strings that produces such a resonant sound, whether played on a 6 string or 12 string guitar. This tuning has figured prominently in the songs of Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg, Ry Cooder, and Leo Kottke.
