Teachers at the Old Town School

Anna M. Jacobson

Anna Jacobson grew up in a family of musicians and artists and started singing and playing music at a young age. She studied Sociology and Music at the University of Vermont, surrounded by imaginative and inspirational peers. Anna just finished a summer at the Old Town School Music and Theater camps and is excited to continue teaching here in the fall! She thinks that the Old Town School is a wonderful community of teachers and students who help foster each others' creativity and she can't wait to bring her experiences to the school. Anna spent two summers in Minnesota as the head of the Arts and Crafts program at a camp for children with special needs. Art was a terrific way for the kids to express their feelings and create something of their own. She was a kindergarten aide in an elementary school and worked in the art class at a nursery school in Oak Park, Illinois. She also taught second grade at an English Immersion school in South Korea and worked as a teacher's aide at Jewish Child and Family Services Therapeutic Day School in Chicago. Anna loves working with children of all ages and thinks that the process of art making is a positive way for them to explore their emotions and the environment around them!
