Anna Jacobson

Fiddle, French Horn, Trumpet, Ensembles

Anna has a diverse musical background that she brings to every class she teaches. Hailing from a small town in Wisconsin, Anna grew up trained in the Suzuki method of violin, playing fiddle in a local folk dance band, horn in the youth symphony, and performing with her family's vocal group at every community event. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree from Lawrence University, Anna came to Chicago to pursue a Master of Music degree from DePaul in Horn Performance. She has since performed with the Chicago Symphony, Illinois Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Oistrach Symphony, and numerous other freelance groups and regional symphonies across Illinois and Iowa.

In addition to orchestras, Anna performs regularly with several acclaimed ensembles. She is a founding member of the V3NTO Brass Trio (pronounced "vento"), winners of the 2012 Chicago Brass Festival Ensemble Competition and 2013 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition quarterfinalists. Anna is also the primary arranger for the group, with several published works. She also performs on fiddle, horn, and trumpet in Jonas Friddle and the Majority, winners of Song of the Year in the 2012 John Lennon Songwriting Competition. She also plays with the Fantastic Toe Trippers Orchestra for dances around Chicago.

A dedicated educator, Anna is a registered Suzuki violin teacher. In addition to teaching at the Old Town School, Anna has studios in horn, trumpet, and violin in Oak Park, IL as well as being on faculty as a horn teacher at the DePaul Community Music Division. With trombone-playing husband (and OTS teacher) Evan, Anna is passionate about creating more learning experiences for brass players at the Old Town School. She is a co-founding teacher of our popular Brass Class!
