Resource Center

Welcome to the Resource Center!

Location: basement lobby of 4544 N. Lincoln Ave.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 3 p.m.- 9:30 p.m./Saturday 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.

The Resource Center houses a collection of over 20,000 recordings, books, and magazines. In keeping with the School's overall mission to preserve and present folk and roots music, the collection is organized and open to all. There are three complete stereo systems for students to listen and a comfortable reading lounge in the basement lobby. Only faculty and and staff people can take books and recordings home.

The Resource Center has begun to work in partnership with Columbia College to archive our collection of OTSFM concert recordings, and soon portions of the audio and video from this collection will be available for your listening, viewing pleasure. Also, check out Mark Dvorak's fabulous Songnotes - a fascinating companion guide to the Old Town School's venerable Songbook. It's chock-full of interesting info and history on all 108 songs.

Spin Night

A series of pre-concert lectures sponsored by the Resource Center, these events combine a knowledgeable speaker, recorded examples of music and side commentary from the evening's performer. These one-hour lectures create the perfect environment for an audience to sample the recordings and appreciate the history of a particular musical tradition.
