Fiddle 2 Rep, October 24, 2011

Hi everyone!

It was great to play with some of you yesterday. Some of you I haven’t met yet, and I look forward to playing with you, too!

Here’s a <a href="“>PICTURE of our set list on Monday

Next week we’ll work on the chords for these tunes.

Requests for this session that we’ll work on:

-The Pentatonic Scale

Inchapikua (Mariposa)

-I plan on working on the same repertoire on Mondays and Thursdays, so I’ll keep one blog for both classes :)

If you want to here the tunes, you can go to the Tune Archive, oldtownschool.org/fiddle/fun. If you don’t see a tune you’re looking for, check out “Tunes for Kids” at the top of the Tune Archive page.

Hi!

In both classes we learned Old Joe Clark and Cluck Old Hen this last week.

Next week is graduation! The Monday class has decided to do Liza Jane and we’ll decide on Thursday what we’ll do for that class.

This Thursday is the last Thursday Open Jam for the session. Come on out before class between 7-8:30pm to jam on your tunes with other folks.

It’s been a really fun session so far, thank you!

Fiddle 1 Rep- Maria’s Classes, Week 1 and 2

Hi friends!

It’s been a great first couple of weeks. I’ll be making posts here on a weekly basis to let you know what we’re working on. You can find the tunes posted on the Tune Archive at:

oldtownschool.org/fiddle/fun

Also, check out the Tunes for Kids’ Section for tunes that will help you with your ear training.

In the Monday morning class we’ve worked on Boil Em Cabbage, A and B part, Angeline the Baker, Koputus Polkka and Liza Jane. Other tunes we know are Shortnin’ Bread and Oh Susanna. Tara brought a song in that she would like to work on, so I’ll bring that in next time. :)

For Thursday class, we’ll review this week and learn Cripple Creek (per request of Tracy) and possibly Koputus Polkka.

The Songs of the Session this summer or Dink’s Song (from the Old Town School of Music Songbook) and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We’ll be touching on both of those songs in the Key of C. I’m excited because I’ll be learning them in my ‘Ukelele class as well. To find out more about the Songs of the Session click here:

Play with you soon!

We worked on Koputus Polkka on Monday. If you’re comfortable, you can play that tune with the Fiddle 2 class on Monday :)
