And I will introduce to the Sunday class this week as well.

Hi!

Today we reviewed Arkansas Traveler, you can listen to it on the Tune Archive, Paul put a nice version of Lee Stoneking playing it.

We also worked on Cripple Creek, listen to Tommy Jarrell and Kyle Creed playing it for a source recording and you can listen to Danny Miller’s slow version to hear how we’re doing it in class.

We tried Cripple Creek in Standard Tuning (G, D, A, E) and then we also tried it in Cross A or Sawmill Tuning (A, E, A, E)

Next week we’ll try it in G

Have a nice time playing this week!

Hi!

It was good to see everyone last week, you all sounded great on Paddy on the Handcar, Paul is going to teach some more bowing next week.

We worked on the A MINOR pentatonic which is: A, C D E G A (we used it in Cross Road Blues)

The A MAJOR pentatonic is: A B C# D E F# A

You can learn more about Cross Road Blues and listen to it here:

http://oldtownschool.org/classes/songs/session11_6.html

We also went over Dancing Bear in Em

you can find it on the Kids’ Tune Archive, oldtownschool.org/fiddle/fun/kids and download the music in Kids’ Fiddle Book 3.

We talked a bit about ABC notation (thanks for your help Kerry), if you have questions, Paul has posted a PDF called “ABC Notation for Fiddle Tunes” at the top of the Tune Archive

oldtownschool.org/fiddle/fun

Hopefully I’ll see you at Open House Friday on February 10
