Old-Time Ensemble (Wed) – Week 7

The last in our series of tunes named after domesticated species:

“Shove the Pig’s Foot a Little Farther in the Fire”

From Marcus Martin of Swannanoa, North Carolina
NB Marcus Martin was the source of many great tunes. He was recorded for the Library of Congress in the 1930s and 40s. A recording from later in his life is available from the Field Recorders Collective (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

From Bruce Molsky [link to iTunes store]

Week 8 is our graduation party in the back room at Paddy O’Splaines (2434 W. Montrose).
The doin’s start at 8. Invite your friends.

Fiddle 4 Twin Fiddling (Session 2009.3)

Maria McCullough is going to join me again for Twin Fiddling. We’ll teach melody and harmony parts and give you some ideas on how to figure out a harmony if you only know the melody. Our tunes will come from a global potluck of traditions that like to hear fiddles and other instruments in harmony: Mexican, Swedish, Tohono O’odham, Balkan, etc. Below are a few samples . . .

Jucheti Consuelito

Gaida

Lili Harbres Waltz

This is close to the most fun you could possibly have.
