Fiddle 1&2 (Mon) Week 7

Hi all!

It’s graduation day tomorrow, yeah!

Fiddle 2, we talked about doing Liza Jane for graduation and Fiddle 1, Oh Susanna. Don’t forget to bring in your own tune for class. :)

The Oh Susanna that we listened to in Fiddle 1 is by The Be Good Tanyas on their Blue Horse Album, another good song by them is The Littlest Birds on Weeds – Music from the Original Series, you can buy both of the songs on iTunes.

We worked on the Pentatonic scale in both classes. The notes we use are 1,2,3,5,6,8 (i.e. in the Key of D it’s D, E, F#, A, B, D—-in the Key of G it’s G, A, B, D, E, G—-in the Key of A it’s A, B, C#, E, F#, A)

Mark’s trick is to think of it as open 1, 2, open 1,3, for the two strings that you use….. (pretty cool!)

I went and saw Ulele last night and Leina was awesome! The whole band was awesome, what a great sound, it made me wanna’ DANCE!

Jean, we’ll miss you, have fun in France and we’ll see you when you get back!

Love,

Maria :)
