Okbari is Amos Libby and Eric LaPerna, an accomplished musical duo that have been performing and recording together since 1995. Okbari perform classical, folk, and contemporary music from the Arabic, Anatolian, Greek and Balkan traditions on a variety of instruments including the Oud, Arabic Tabla (doumbeck, darbukka), Riqq (tambourine) and Duff (frame drum). Amos and Eric are both percussionists and multi-instrumentalists that have studied under renowned instructors in the Middle Eastern, Indian, Turkish, and African traditions both in the U.S. and abroad. Amos also provides the vocals for the group. They are both members of the Applied Music Faculty at Bates College and co-directors of the Bowdoin College Middle Eastern Ensemble.

A Middle Eastern and Indian sub-continent percussion workshop with the artists is offered in the Thursday Workshop Series on Thursday, June 25th.
