Flamenco dance and guitar accompaniment workshop
Thursday 02/11/2010 at 5:30 PM An interactive workshop for dancers and guitarists featuring La Conja an internationally renowned dancer, choreographer and teacher and visiting Flamenco recording artist Juanito Pascual. In the first half, the dancers will work on a choreographed piece while the guitarists learn appropriate techniques for accompaniment. The second half will combine guitarists and dancers. Zota Dance

Maracatu and Forró – Brazilian percussion workshop
Thursday 03/11/2010 at 6:00 PM Scott Kettner, Artistic Director/Founder of Nation Beat and Maracatu New York will give a percussion workshop on the Afro-Brazilian Maracatu music of Pernambuco and Forró from Brazil’s Northeast. Percussion instruments used in these musical styles are Alfaia, Caixa, Gongue, Abe, Agogo, Triangle, Zabumba & Pandeiro. Students of all levels are welcome. Irish Tunes & Technique
Thursday 03/18/2010 at 6:00 PM Sean Cleland the director and founder of the Irish Music School of Chicago will give a workshop for folks that have a little experience playing music and would like an introduction to Irish music. The workshop is open to all melody instruments. Students will work on quickly picking up tunes by ear and playing them in an Irish style.
