Have you ever wanted to make an abstract painting but didn’t know where to start? Or are you a painter wanting to push your materials and ideas a little further? In this class we will explore styles and techniques of post-modern and contemporary abstract artists while playing with oil, acrylic, and additive materials. We will discover ways to add texture and thickness to our paint or how to thin and stain. Through lessons, class discussion, and critique, we’ll refine our ideas and strategies for painting in abstraction. Basic supplies (paint, brushes, and mediums) will be provided and students are welcome to bring their own materials as well. All levels welcome, as we will tailor the class to the needs of each student.
