Join members of the group, La Banda Morisca for a workshop in music from around the Mediterranean. The workshop will touch on on Greek, Byzantium, Persian, Turkish and Andalusian musical styles highlighting their similarities and unique features. This workshop will be especially interesting to string, woodwind, and percussion players.
La Banda Morisca is also the name of a septet from Jerez de la Frontera in Andalucía consisting of a group of passionate musicians from the traditional Spanish music circuit fusing original and creative views of traditional repertoire. The group mixes oriental and occidental influences from the South of Mediterranean like Muwashahas, Chaabi, Dahmane el Harachi and Nass el Ghiwane, and the mood of the traditional flamenco from Jerez as well as Andalusian rock.
