Learning the fundamentals of jazz theory opens new avenues in your improvisational style. Knowing jazz theory as you listen to jazz develops your ear and betters your musicianship. Investigate the chord/scale relationship, turnarounds, voice leading, jazz charts, new scales, and chord substitution. We will analyze tunes in the style of standards, bebop, latin-jazz, blues, modal, and contemporary fusion.
